Obverse description Cast bronze cash coin featuring four Chinese ideograms arranged in cruciform fashion around a central square perforation, reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left: 崇寧重寶 (Chongning Zhongbao). The inscription is rendered in elegant Clerical script (lishu), characteristic of the Northern Song dynasty coinage issued during the Chongning reign era of Emperor Huizong. The characters occupy the four cardinal quadrants of the coin face, with the field exhibiting the typical flat, unadorned surface of Song-period cast coinage. No inner or outer rim decoration is present beyond the standard raised borders framing the central perforation and coin edge.
