Obverse description Central device displays the crowned arms of Lucerne — a vertically divided shield with horizontal lines on the dexter side and a plain sinister — set upon an ornate cartouche with scrolling acanthus mantling. The shield is surmounted by an elaborate floral crown. A wreath of olive or laurel branches frames the lower portion of the arms. The circular legend CANTON LUCERN runs along the periphery, with beaded borders on both inner and outer rims.
