| Obverse description | The quartered cantonal shield of Aargau occupies the central field, displaying the traditional divisions of wavy horizontal lines (representing the River Aare) and a chequered pattern, with three six-pointed stars arranged vertically on the dexter half. The shield is flanked by a palm branch to the left and a laurel branch to the right, their stems crossing below the shield's base. The legend CANTON ARGAU is inscribed in raised capital letters around the upper periphery, separated by a small rosette at the apex. A fine toothed border frames the entire design. |

| Reverse description | The denomination numeral 5 and the inscription BATZEN are displayed in two lines at the centre of the field, with the four-digit date below, all enclosed within a wreath composed of two oak branches tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The oak leaves and acorns are rendered in high relief with fine naturalistic detail. A toothed border runs along the coin's periphery, consistent with the milled production technique. |
