Obverse description The central device displays the Romanian coat of arms — a quartered shield bearing the eagle of Wallachia, the aurochs head of Moldavia, the Danubian dolphins, and the lion of Oltenia — surmounted by a royal crown and flanked by two supporters: a female allegorical figure to the left and a rampant lion to the right, the whole set beneath a draped and fringed royal mantle topped by a crown. A scroll in the lower field carries the motto legend, while the country name arcs along the upper periphery within a beaded border.
Obverse script Latin

Reverse description The denomination numeral '5' above the inscription 'BANI' in large, bold Roman lettering occupies the central field, with the date '1867' below, the entire composition enclosed within a wreath composed of an olive branch to the left and an oak branch to the right, tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The mint name 'WATT & Co.' appears in small letters beneath the wreath at the lower exergue. A beaded border runs along the coin's rim.
