Obverse description Central device depicts the Portuguese armillary sphere surmounted by a mural crown, with the Arms of Portugal (five escutcheons bearing five bezants in saltire, and a bordure of castles) displayed on the shield within the sphere. Four six-pointed stars flank the central device, two to the left and two to the right. The legend MACAU arcs along the upper field, flanked by rope-style border beading, while the date 1967 appears along the lower field. The Chinese characters 門 (left) and 澳 (right), together forming the abbreviated name for Macau, appear in the side fields.
