Comments

Belarus redenominated in 2000, cutting five zeros, which means this five-million-rouble note became a 50-kopek piece overnight — worth half a rouble in the new system. The inflation that forced denominations this large was rooted in the economic collapse following Soviet dissolution and was compounded by Belarus's unusually prolonged resistance to structural reform under Lukashenko's early presidency.

P#20 is part of a short-lived series that was obsolete almost immediately after printing.
