| Reverse description | Printed in dark brown on a cream wave-pattern guilloche underprint, the reverse centres on a heraldic vignette of a crowned double-headed eagle bearing a shield on its breast, flanked on each side by two groups of three crowns — traditional emblems of the Cologne arms. The Gothic blackletter inscription STADT KOELN is divided to the left and right of the eagle at mid-field, with the denomination numeral 5.000.000 in large bold type along the lower margin and the figure 50000000 repeated in curved arcs at both upper corners. |
