| Obverse description | Printed in red, blue, and black on cream paper, the obverse carries a vertical decorative border at left composed of stylised interlocking figures in red and blue, flanking the heraldic shield of Provinz Schleswig-Holstein rendered in full colour. The denomination '5 000 000 Mrk' appears in large red Gothic script at upper right, beneath which the redemption text, validity clause dated 'Kiel 1. Sept. 1923', and the issuing authority line 'Der Provincialausschuß · Der Landeshauptmann' are set in red letterpress. Two manuscript signatures appear at lower centre, with a serial number and letter suffix at lower left. |

| Reverse description | The reverse, printed in red and blue on cream paper and oriented horizontally, centres on a folk-art vignette in the manner of the German Notgeld period: a costumed male and female figure stand face to face within a rectangular frame, with smaller genre vignettes of medieval or folkloric scenes occupying each corner. The denomination 'Fünf Millionen Mk' is restated in large black Gothic lettering to the right of the central vignette, and a partially legible underprint inscription runs across the central field. The printer's imprint 'Hartung & Co., Hamburg' appears in small type at the bottom of the vignette panel. |
