| Obverse description | Notgeld issue of 21 July 1923, printed in black on a pale ground with a dark red guilloche border and large denomination numerals "5000000" in red along both vertical margins. The central text, set in blackletter typeface, states the denomination "Fünf Millionen Mk." over a lightly printed municipal coat of arms watermark-style underprint; the upper portion carries the series designation "Reihe A" and a sequential serial number. Two circular official seals — one for the Stadt Gelsenkirchen and one for the Landkreis Gelsenkirchen — are impressed in the lower corners, flanking the dual-authority signature lines for the Oberbürgermeister and the Kreisdeputierter. |
