The central text panel carries the issuer heading 'STADT KÖLN' in Roman capitals above 'Gutschein über' and the denomination 'Fünf Milliarden Mark' in bold Gothic blackletter script; a red circular municipal seal is impressed to the lower left, with the series letter 'A' and a red serial number to the right.
