Obverse description Conjoined busts of Dr. Eugen Huhn and Joseph Meyer in right-facing profile relief, with Huhn depicted in the foreground with a beard and bow tie, and Meyer behind him wearing spectacles. A circular legend surrounds the effigies, naming both figures with their respective birth and death years, and an inscription running around the lower field extols revolutionary enlightenment, education, social progress, and humanity.

Reverse description The central field depicts a detailed bird's-eye plan of the city of Hildburghausen as it appeared around 1720, showing the town walls, streets, and principal buildings in raised relief. An inscription in the inner field above the plan reads 'Stadtplan um 1720', and a circular Latin legend around the border commemorates the 650th anniversary of the city's foundation (1324–1974). The lower portion of the border carries the inscription 'KB/DDR' and 'IV. KREISMÜNZAUSSTELLUNG'.
