Obverse description A seated, crowned allegorical female figure representing the Ligurian Republic occupies the central field, holding a spear in her right hand and resting her left arm on a shield. The denomination L. 48 appears below the figure, while the engraver's signature H. VASSALLO is inscribed on the base of the seat. The surrounding legend reads REPUBLICA LIGURE followed by the year of the Republic in Roman numerals, rendered in the neoclassical style characteristic of Cisalpine coinage of the period.
