Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Empress Elizabeth I, her hair dressed and adorned with a diadem, rendered in the baroque court portrait style. The effigy is set within a beaded border, with the Cyrillic circular legend surrounding the bust. The mint mark MMД (Moscow Mint) appears in the lower exergue beneath the portrait.

Reverse description A double-headed Imperial Russian eagle displayed in the centre of the field, its wings spread and each head crowned, bearing on its breast the shields of Livonia and Estonia. The eagle is encircled by a Latin legend naming the issuing territories and denomination, with the date 1756 and the numeral 48 incorporated into the reverse legend.
