Dieser Notgeldschein ist gedeckt nach Maßgabe der Bestimmungen der Reichsregierung. Binnen Monatsfrist nach Aufruf wird dieser Schein nach Wahl des Ausstellers je nach der Art der Deckung gegen hinterlegte Schatzanweisungen der wertbeständigen Anleihen des Deutschen Reiches umgetauscht oder mit einem dem Kurse der hinterlegten Wertpapiere am Tage der Zahlung entsprechenden Barbetrag gegen Aushändigung des Scheines bezahlt. Der Umtausch oder die Zahlung findet bei der Bayerischen Staatsbank in Hof statt. Der Aufruf erfolgt auf Grund Gesetzes oder Verordnung des Reichsfinanzministers. HOF, 26. November 1923. This note from the North Bavarian regional group of the South German Textile Employers' Association is a precise artifact of that moment: the dual denomination was not decorative, it was contractual, intended to peg wage-related obligations to a stable external value while hyperinflation made any fixed mark figure meaningless within hours of printing.
The watermarked paper is notable for a piece of this tier — most comparable Bavarian industrial notgeld of the period was printed on whatever stock was available.
