Reverse description The Roman numeral denomination mark N XLII (denoting 42 Nummi) inscribed in large bold characters at center, all contained within a wreath border. The lettering is rendered in a crude but legible hand consistent with Vandal-period bronze coinage; some specimens are known with retrograde inscription. A secondary symbol — either a cross or a besant — may appear within the wreath on certain die varieties.
