Reverse description A crowned allegorical female figure (Germania) places a laurel wreath upon a bust of Gutenberg set on a pedestal, beneath a radiant star in the upper field. To the left stands an early printing press with printed sheets, and scattered books and printing implements lie in the foreground. To the right are stacked books, a portrait medallion, and additional attributes of the printing trade. The circular legend appears at the top, with a four-line inscription in the lower exergue.
