Obverse description Portrait of Sun Yat-sen in an oval vignette at left, set against a green guilloche underprint. The denomination 肆百圓 is printed in large characters at centre, with the issuing bank name 中央銀行 across the top. Red seal impressions appear to the right, and serial numbers flank the upper portion of the note on both sides.

Reverse description Centre panel carries a large guilloche rosette with the denomination 肆百圓 in bold characters at its centre, surrounded by intricate lathe-work patterns. The numeral 400 appears in each corner, with vertical signature panels in Chinese script at left and right. The overall colour is olive-brown.
