| Obverse description | Left-facing bust of Getúlio Vargas, President of Brazil, rendered in high relief with a naturalistic, modernist style occupying the majority of the field. The portrait depicts the subject in civilian attire, with closely cropped hair and a broad, prominent jawline. The legend GETULIO VARGAS arcs along the left and right periphery of the scalloped flan, following the contour of the coin's edge. The field is otherwise unadorned, allowing the bold effigy to dominate the design. The work reflects the Art Deco sensibility prevalent in Brazilian coinage of the Estado Novo era. |
