Obverse description Host coin obverse of a French 24 Sols piece struck under Louis XVI, featuring his laureate and draped bust in right profile, engraver's signature B. DUVIVIER visible below the truncation. The surrounding legend reads LUD. XVI. D. G. FR. ET NAV. REX. Applied over the bust is a crowned rectangular countermark bearing the letter G, punched during the British occupation of Guadeloupe in 1811 to validate the coin for local circulation. The entire design is contained within a toothed border.

Reverse description Host coin reverse of the French 24 Sols, retaining the original design of the crowned oval shield of France bearing three fleurs-de-lis, flanked by laurel and oak branches tied at the base. The circular legend reads BENEDICTUM SIT NOMEN DOMINI, with the date 1786 incorporated into the legend at the top and the mint mark R (Orléans) visible at the base below the wreath. A toothed border frames the entire design.
