Obverse description The Hungarian royal coat of arms, surmounted by the Holy Crown of Saint Stephen, occupies the central field. The quartered shield displays the traditional Hungarian dynastic arms — alternating red and white horizontal stripes on the dexter side and the apostolic double cross on a green triple hill on the sinister — flanked by decorative foliate ornaments. The engraver's initials 'B.R.' and the designer's initials 'U.F.' appear below the shield alongside the date '19 35'. The curved legend 'MAGYAR KIRÁLYSÁG' arcs above, while the denomination '40 PENGŐ' is inscribed in large letters across the lower field. The entire design is contained within a beaded inner border.
