| Obverse lettering | محمود في ضرب طرابلس غرب ١٢٢٣ (Translation: Mahmud Struck in Tripoli West 1223) |
| Reverse description | The reverse presents a multi-line Arabic inscription arranged in horizontal registers across the field, proclaiming the sultan's dynastic titles. The legend reads 'Sultan of the Two Lands and Khagan of the Two Seas, the Sultan, son of the Sultan,' with the regnal year 13 appearing within the text. Small decorative star-shaped ornaments are interspersed between the lines of inscription. The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded border consistent with the obverse. The bold, deeply struck lettering is characteristic of the provincial Tripolitan mint style under Ottoman suzerainty. |
