Obverse description Host coin is an Ottoman Turkish 40 Para (KM-670, AH1255 year 18) in copper, featuring the elaborate tughra of Sultan Abdülmecid I in the central field, surrounded by ornamental arabesques, with Arabic inscriptions below and a toothed border encircling the entire design. Applied over the tughra is a bold Greek countermark in the form of the letter 'A', deeply struck into the field of the host coin to authorize its circulation as a Greek 40 Para.
