| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the elaborate tughra (imperial monogram) of Sultan Abdülmecid I rendered in fine calligraphic relief, with characteristic curved baseline, three vertical shafts (tuğ), and sweeping oval loop (beyze). A stylized floral spray with blossoming roundels and leaf motifs extends to the upper right of the tughra. The regnal year numeral in Arabic script appears in the lower field below the tughra. The coin is bounded by a finely milled border of uniform denticles. |

| Reverse description | The large Arabic numeral ٤٠ (40), denoting the denomination in para, is prominently displayed at the center of the field. Surrounding the central value numeral is a continuous circular band of Arabic calligraphic legend in thuluth script, reading the mint formula and invocation. Below the central numeral, the Hijri accession year ١٢٥٥ (1255) appears with the word سنة (year) flanking it. The entire design is enclosed within a milled denticled border. |
