Reverse description Central field dominated by a large Greek capital letter M (mark of value for 40 nummi), surmounted by a cross above its center. Flanking the M on the left is a six-pointed star and on the right an eight-pointed star, both in the field. The officina letter B appears in the lower center between the legs of the M. In the exergue, the mint mark CON (for Constantinopolis) is inscribed within a decorative frame. A beaded border encircles the entire reverse design.
