Reverse description The large denomination mark M (40 nummi) occupies the centre of the field in bold Greek numerals, surmounted by a cross above. Beneath the M appears the officina letter (e.g. A or B or ε), identifying the workshop. A monogram is placed in the left field, while the regnal year in Greek numerals is inscribed to the right. The exergue carries the mint signature KYZ for Cyzicus. The reverse follows the standard Byzantine follis format established by Anastasius I, with the regnal year marking a distinctive feature of Heraclian coinage.
