| Obverse description | Issued on pale ochre paper, the obverse is set in a letterpress design with a central vignette rendered in a fine line-art style, showing a medieval town gate with flanking buildings in Hainburg, suggestive of the Wiener Tor. The denomination "40 Heller" appears in bold blackletter script within decorative dotted-border cartouches at left and right. Below the central vignette, three manuscript signatures appear under the respective designations "Obmann-Stellvertreter:", "Für den Aufsichtsrat:", and "Obmann:", with the issuer name "Gutschein der Hainburger Gewerbekasse, r. Gen. m. b. H." arching across the top in ornate Gothic lettering. |

| Reverse description | The reverse is printed in black on plain ochre paper and consists entirely of a text block enclosed within a decorative scrollwork border of repeating foliate ornaments. The text, set in blackletter type, identifies the issuer in full and states the conditions of acceptance and redemption, specifying that the vouchers are non-interest-bearing, accepted in payment until 31 December 1920, and redeemable in legal tender from 1 to 31 January 1921, concluding with a counterfeiting warning. |
