Obverse description The obverse is printed in blue and sepia on cream paper, framed by a decorative border of geometric and floral guilloche patterns with edelweiss vignettes in ornamental urns at each lower corner. A central rectangular photographic-style vignette presents a sepia-toned view of the Hochtorgruppe massif reflected over a lake with a jetty in the foreground, captioned 'Hochtorgruppe.' at upper left. The denomination '40' appears in large numerals within octagonal cartouches at both left and right flanks, while the issuer's title 'Gutschein des Marktes Admont.' is inscribed in Gothic blackletter script across the top; at the foot, a motto in two parts flanks a central lozenge device: 'Hinaus in die Welt!' and 'doch nicht als Geld.'

Reverse description The reverse is printed entirely in blue on cream paper with a decorative border of stylised foliate and geometric patterns. Two oval vignettes flank a central text panel: the left oval contains a chamois standing on a rocky Alpine ledge, while the right oval presents a still-life of a wine bottle and glasses on a table. The central panel carries two poetic stanzas in Gothic script attributed to 'Nach Kobell.' and 'Goldbacher.' respectively, below which a couplet appeals to collectors, followed by the place and date 'Admont, Steiermark, im November 1920.' A panoramic Alpine mountain silhouette underprint spans the lower portion, above three manuscript facsimile signatures with printed titles identifying the Bürgermeister, Bürgermeister-Stellvertreter, and Zahlmeister; a small-print legal notice at the very foot, referencing the state decree prohibiting circulation, completes the design.
