Pick 37 is one of the more awkward entries in Dutch monetary history. Designed and printed in the 1920s, these notes were still technically in circulation when the Netherlands was occupied, which made them a liability — the Germans systematically drained Dutch currency reserves, and older high-denomination guilder notes of this type passed freely through that mechanism. The printing date of 30 April 1945 is striking: that is the day Hitler died, and two days before Amsterdam's liberation.
Notes dated that late in the war were almost certainly printed for post-liberation monetary stabilization rather than wartime issue.
