| Obverse description | Bare-headed bust of Napoleon I facing left, portrayed in the neoclassical style with naturalistically rendered curly hair and a truncated draped shoulder. The engraver's signature appears at the base of the truncation. The circular legend NAPOLEON EMPEREUR runs along the periphery, separated from the toothed border by a raised rim. The composition reflects the early Imperial coinage type prior to the adoption of the laurel-wreathed portrait. |
