Obverse description Bare-headed left-facing effigy of Joachim Murat (Gioacchino Napoleone), King of the Two Sicilies, rendered in high relief with finely engraved curling hair characteristic of the Neoclassical style of engraver Niccolò Morghen. The portrait occupies the majority of the field, with the truncation of the neck visible at the lower obverse. The encircling Latin legend reads GIOACCHINO NAPOLEONE RE DEL. DUE SICI. N.M., interrupted by a star at the base, denoting his titles as King of the Two Sicilies.
