Obverse description Central circular medallion bearing the right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after Ian Rank-Broadley's fourth definitive portrait, set against a brushed silver rectangular field. The legend 'NIUE' arcs above the effigy within the medallion border, with the denomination '40 DOLLARS', the specification '500 GRAMS 999AG', the edition number '28/69', and the date '2021' inscribed below in the field. The surrounding rectangular surface displays a finely brushed silver finish, framing the central medallion with understated elegance.

Reverse description Full-colour reproduction of Alphonse Mucha's celebrated 1897 Art Nouveau lithograph 'Byzantine Head: The Brunette', occupying the entire rectangular reverse field. A profile bust of a dark-haired woman wearing an ornate jewelled Byzantine headdress adorned with colourful gemstones, floral motifs, and pendant earrings is presented within a circular tondo at centre. The flowing brunette hair cascades over a white draped garment against a soft naturalistic background. The tondo is framed by a red beaded border, itself surrounded by an intricate symmetrical Art Nouveau foliate design rendered in muted sage green tones filling the four corners of the rectangular field. Mucha's signature appears in the lower left of the central tondo.
