Additional information

Tunisia declared itself a republic on July 25, 1957, exactly one year after Habib Bourguiba had maneuvered the Constituent Assembly into abolishing the monarchy. The 1967 tenth-anniversary issue commemorates that moment. This particular piece is an obverse trial — a pre-production strike used to evaluate die alignment, surface quality, or planchet preparation before committing to final coinage, struck here in gold-plated brass as a cost-conscious substitute for the finished metal.
