Obverse description Central device featuring the arms of Zürich — a diagonally divided shield with alternating plain and horizontally hatched fields — set upon a decorative pedestal. The shield is encircled by an elaborate wreath of oak leaves, with a civic crown positioned at its apex. The denomination 40.BATZ. appears in bold relief along the lower field, while the legend CANTON to the left and ZÜRICH to the right arc along the periphery in large capital letters. The engraver's initial B is visible at the lower left of the pedestal. The coin is bordered by a finely toothed outer rim.
