Reverse description The ornate quartered arms of the Order of Malta surmounted by a large princely crown, flanked by elaborate baroque scrollwork cartouche supporters, the shield displaying the cross of the Order and the personal arms of Vilhena. Eight six-pointed stars are arranged in an arc above the crown within the legend circle. The date 1723 appears within the encircling legend, which reads M · M · HOS : ET S · S · HIERVSAL, referencing the Grand Master's titles as Master of the Hospital and of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.
