Reverse description A displayed eagle with wings spread, its head turned to the right, surmounted by an imperial crown, all contained within a beaded inner circle. The mint-master's initials 'GM' appear in the lower field beneath the eagle. The circumferential Latin legend incorporates the regnal title and concludes with the date of issue placed at the end of the inscription. The heraldic eagle, a longstanding emblem of the Aragonese and Habsburg rulers of Sicily, is rendered in a bold, schematic style typical of hammered Sicilian coinage of the period.
