| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a crowned quartered shield of arms displaying the heraldic devices of Batenburg, with the denomination numeral '4' to the left of the shield and the letter 'S' to the right, indicating 4 Stivers. The crown surmounts the shield from above, rendered in a bold, somewhat crude hammered style typical of minor Netherlands lordship coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the entire design, reading MONETA · NOVA · ARGENT · BAT, identifying this as the new silver coinage of Batenburg. |

| Reverse description | A displayed Imperial double-headed eagle with spread wings fills the reverse field, a globus cruciger (orb surmounted by a cross) prominently depicted on the eagle's breast. The heads of the eagle face outward to either side, rendered in the vigorous hammered style characteristic of Holy Roman Empire vassal coinage of the early seventeenth century. A circular Latin legend surrounds the eagle, invoking the authority of Emperor Matthias I as elected Roman Emperor. |
