| Obverse description | Central field displays a crowned Danish coat of arms — a quartered shield bearing the three lions passant of Denmark and the three crowns of Sweden — set within a beaded inner circle. The crowned shield is rendered in the bold, somewhat crude style characteristic of mid-16th century hammered coinage. A Latin circular legend surrounds the central device, reading the royal title of Christian III, King of Denmark. The coin exhibits the irregular flan shape and uneven strike typical of hand-hammered silver production of the period. |
