Additional information

Jersey's Edward VIII coinage occupies a strange corner of numismatic history. Edward abdicated in December 1936 before any British colonial or dependency coinage bearing his effigy entered circulation — making him the only 20th-century British monarch never to appear on a circulating coin during his reign. These pieces, issued by the States of Jersey decades later as deliberate collector items, exist precisely to fill that historical gap.

The copper composition distinguishes them from the silver and gold versions in the same program.
