Reverse description The reverse of the halved Mexican 8 Reales host coin presents the surviving portion of the laureate and draped bust of King Carlos III facing right, surrounded by a partial Latin legend proclaiming the king's name and divine grace, with the date 1787 visible in the field or legend. The cut edge bisects both the effigy and the encircling inscription, characteristic of the officially sanctioned coin-cutting practice employed in the British Virgin Islands to create fractional currency. The surface retains original milled detail consistent with the milled coinage of the Mexico City Mint.
