Obverse description Draped bust of Francesco I d'Este, Duke of Modena and Reggio, facing right, with flowing hair rendered in the Baroque style. The effigy is shown in armour with elaborate decorative detailing at the shoulder and a lace collar visible at the truncation. The bust is contained within an inner circle, with the Latin legend distributed around the periphery of the field, separated by pellets. A beaded border frames the entire design.
