| Obverse description | Central field bearing a four-line calligraphic legend in elegant nastaliq script, reading 'Al-Sultan ibn al-Sultan Fath-Ali Shah Qajar,' enclosed within a raised circular border. The surrounding broad marginal band is richly decorated with an elaborate interlaced arabesque of scrolling floral and foliate motifs, deeply struck in relief in the characteristic Qajar hammered style. Small rosette ornaments are scattered throughout the central legend field as decorative fillers. The entire composition reflects the refined Persian court aesthetic of the early Qajar period. |
