| Reverse description | Reverse retains the design of the U.S. Capped Bust half dollar host coin, showing a heraldic eagle with spread wings perched upon an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, with a shield superimposed on its breast. A scroll above the eagle bears the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM in raised lettering, while the outer legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA runs along the upper periphery. The denomination 50 C. appears in the lower exergue. The reverse also exhibits a centrally punched hole, a characteristic alteration associated with the Costa Rican countermarking and cutting process for emergency currency use. |
