Reverse description Central quartered shield of the Spanish royal arms, displaying alternating castles of Castile and lions of León with a pomegranate at the base point, surmounted by an elaborate royal crown. The shield is flanked on either side by the Pillars of Hercules, each wrapped with a banner inscribed PLUS and ULTRA respectively. The circumferential legend encircles the design, with the mint mark GA, assayer initials MR, and denomination 4R incorporated into the field. The overall composition follows the standard colonial Spanish shield-and-pillars type.
