Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Ferdinand VII facing right, rendered in the neoclassical style standard to Spanish colonial milled coinage. The king's hair is tied at the nape with a ribbon, and a laurel wreath crowns his head. The circumferential legend reads FERDN . VII . DEI . GRATIA, interrupted by the date positioned at the base of the bust. The rim is defined by a milled border of fine radial denticles.

The denomination 4R and assayer initials JP appear to the left of the pillars, while the mint mark ME is also present on the left. The circumferential legend HISPAN . ET IND . REX encircles the design, with the full legend reading ME . 4 . R . J . P . HISPAN . ET . IND . REX. The rim is bordered by uniform milled denticles.
