Obverse description Central Jerusalem cross with four arms of equal length dividing the field into quarters, each quarter bearing alternating castles and lions in the cob (macuquina) style typical of early 18th-century Spanish colonial coinage. The design is characteristic of the cob or 'macuquina' technique, resulting in an irregular flan with the cross often off-center. The partial royal legend PHILIPPVS V D G HISPANIA runs along the periphery, though frequently only partially visible due to the irregular shape of the planchet.

Reverse description The Pillars of Hercules — two crowned columns representing the Strait of Gibraltar — flank a central shield bearing the crowned royal arms of Castile and León, with the mint assayer's initials and date struck between the pillars. The motto PLVS VLTRA appears on banderoles wrapped around the columns, referencing Spain's overseas empire. The denomination indicator and Lima mint mark are present, though partially obscured due to the characteristic irregular flan of hammered cob coinage.
