| Obverse description | Crowned quartered shield of the Spanish Royal Arms, displaying the castles of Castile and lions of León in alternating quarters, with the arms of Granada in base, all within a tressure. The shield is struck on an irregular cob flan typical of macuquina coinage, with portions of the surrounding Latin legend partially visible along the uneven rim. The design is characteristic of the crude but authoritative style produced by the Mexico City mint under Philip III. |
