Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King Charles IV facing right, rendered in the neoclassical portrait style characteristic of the late colonial Spanish mints. The king is depicted with powdered wig tied at the nape, wearing an armored pauldron and royal mantle with a ruffled jabot visible at the chest. The circumferential legend CAROLUS IIII·DEI·GRATIA runs around the periphery, with the mint date appearing in the exergue at the base of the bust. A fine toothed or beaded border frames the entire design.
