| Reverse description | The crowned quartered Royal Arms of Spain displayed at centre, divided into quadrants bearing the castles of Castile and the lions of León, with the central escutcheon of the House of Bourbon (fleurs-de-lis) inescutcheon. The crowned shield is flanked on each side by the Pillars of Hercules, each wound with a serpentine banner. The denomination mark (4R) and the Potosí mint mark (PTS or P) together with the assayer's initial appear to the left of the shield, while the circumferential legend HISPAN·ET·IND·REX· surrounds the design. A beaded border rings the entire reverse field. |
