Obverse description Crowned and armored bust of Carolus I (Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor) facing right, rendered in the medieval hammered style with boldly struck but somewhat crude detail characteristic of Majorcan coinage of the period. The monarch is depicted wearing a large ornate crown surmounting a draped and armored effigy. A beaded inner circle frames the central type, with the Latin legend + CAROLVS REX ARAGONVM disposed around the periphery. The irregular flan edges are typical of hand-struck silver production of the early sixteenth century.
Obverse script Latin
Obverse lettering + CAROLVS REX ARAGONVM
