Reverse description Central crowned shield bearing the quartered royal arms of Castile and León, flanked by the twin crowned Pillars of Hercules, each pillar wrapped with a banner inscribed PLUS VLTRA. The denomination 4R and the assayer initials DA appear to the left of the pillars, with the Santiago mint mark So also present. The encircling legend reads HISPAN ET IND REX, affirming the sovereign's dominion over Spain and the Indies. The overall composition follows the standard milled colonial pillar-and-arms reverse design established for Spanish colonial silver coinage.
