Reverse description The reverse bears a plain, purely inscriptional design with the denomination numeral 4 prominently displayed at the top of the field, followed by the inscription PFENNING / SCHEIDE / MUNTZ arranged in three horizontal lines across the center, and the date 1796 at the foot. All lettering is rendered in bold serif capitals within an unadorned field, consistent with the utilitarian character of Hanoverian Scheidemünze coinage of the late eighteenth century.
